Why Allie P?

Allie P's Practical Preschool is the name of my blog, my Facebook page, my Pinterest Account, and my Instagram. Hopefully you've figured out the first part (my name), and it seems pretty obvious what I will talk about on all the social media sites- PRESCHOOL! But why practical?

I follow no less than 20-30 preschool Facebook pages or groups, and nearly 100 teachers on Instagram and I have a bajillion pins on Pinterest all from other teachers. And all these teachers with their picture perfect classrooms and what seems like endless time and energy to spend in their classrooms. I'm a mom of 3 and also a preschool director; I don't have endless anything except laundry. I don't have time for perfection but I do have a passion for early childhood education. I think this time is magical and children are so full of wonder and excitement that I want to create an environment that nurtures and inspires them constantly. So this is where I am, some where in the middle of all this.

You may be a preschool teacher barely making more than minimum wage. Ugh, don't get me started on the lack of respect and compensation for Early Childhood teachers... You're not going to go out and buy every new Lakeshore set or Melissa and Doug dramatic play set up. It'd be great if your preschool would pay for it, but budgets are always tight and you know that's never going to happen.

You may be a mom (or dad) of so many kids that you barely know what day it is. You don't have time to go back to school every weekend (although I did at least once a month) and catch up on paperwork and assessments, let alone set up extraordinary centers.

Maybe you refuse to work more than the hours you're paid for and there's just not time in your super full day with students to do all those inspirational things you see on Instagram.

You get my drift.

Regular teachers are my people, because I'm pretty regular, too.

I wanted this blog and all my sites to be realistic and PRACTICAL for regular teachers, while still being inspirational.

Nothing in my posts will be expensive or unattainable without a little effort. Everything you see will be what is available to me in my classroom or can be donated. Everything will be doable in a way that isn't stressful nor super time consuming for a class of 10 or more.

Parents are their children's first teachers and always will be. However, in this time of pandemic, parents are taking on this role in a new way by schooling at home. Some families already were doing preschool at home, unschooling, or homeschooling. However, you are doing it, I want Allie P's Practical Preschool to be supportive and encouraging and informative for parents that made this choice intentionally as well as those that had other plans but are figuring it out as they go along.

So there you go,

Allie P's Practical Preschool: Preschool fun that is practical for teachers and parents.

Later Gator,

Allie P
